Eagle Nation, I hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you about an upcoming crisis drill that will be taking place at the High School today. We understand that hearing about drills can raise concerns, and we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. I want to stress to you that today's drill was scheduled last summer and is not a response to the recent school threats in NEA.
These drills are a vital part of our safety protocols, allowing us to prepare for various situations in a controlled and supportive environment. Our staff is trained to guide students through the process, ensuring they understand the importance of these drills while minimizing any anxiety.
Please know that we will communicate with students in an age-appropriate manner and provide them with support before and after the drill.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to keep our school community safe.

GCT Administration became aware of an incident where a student made some concerning comments on a school bus. Action was taken by Administration and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating. There was no immediate danger and at no point was anyone in harm's way.
This is not related to the unsubstantiated social media rumors addressed by the GCSO this morning.
As always, safety is our top priority and we appreciate our partnership with the GCSO.
Eagle Nation, Below is a copy of a statement made by Greene Co. Sheriff, Brad Snyder today.
Parents of Greene County Tech and Marmaduke students, you may have noted extra deputies and officers on campus today as you dropped your children off for school. Very recently, a social media post was found that mentioned Greene County schools in general, and a shooting that may occur. That threat was investigated, but not substantiated. However, just as a matter of reassurance, an extra presence of deputies was on campus at the GCT and Marmaduke School Districts.
It seems that we have these instances more and more each school year. The threats, while initially generic, morph into specific schools and threats as they make their way through posts, shares, and messages from person to person. Oftentimes these threats are posted after a tragic situation has occurred in another part of the country. As existing social media platforms grow and new ones come into existence, I’m afraid that these posts are going to become more and more prevalent. As we well know, social media can be a great thing. However, I’m afraid that the misuse of social media will be the bane of our society.
Parents, if you allow your children to have social media, please monitor their online activity and have a candid conversation with them about the consequences of misusing social media. Hopefully by working together, we can put an end to these senseless posts that needlessly worry parents as well as disrupt the education of our next generation.
- Sheriff Brad Snyder

STUDENT INFORMATION
Today marks the 23rd anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that had a profound impact on our country and the world. It’s important that we take a moment to remember and honor the lives lost and the heroes who stepped up in the face of unimaginable challenges. It is a day that forever changed the course of history and united us in resilience and strength.
We honor the memory of those who lost their lives and recognize the bravery of first responders and countless individuals who came together in the face of adversity. We recognize the strength of the families affected, and the solidarity of communities that came together during that difficult time. Their stories remind us of the resilience and compassion that define us. Their courage and sacrifice serve as a powerful reminder of our shared humanity.
As we move through our day, let's take a few moments to reflect on the importance of empathy, kindness, and unity. In the spirit of remembrance, we encourage you to find ways to contribute positively to our community and to support one another.
