Our third graders got to zoom with Mrs. Waters, who is a Commercial Crew Program Analyst at NASA. She told them all about the International Space Station, the upcoming Solar Eclipse and answered questions. We are so appreciative of her for taking the time to give our students this experience.

We wish our staff a Happy Valentine's Day! We appreciate Ty Sims with Shelter Insurance for sponsoring our staff treat. We appreciate everything our staff does for our students at the Elementary.

GCTSD will host Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 3:30 pm-7:00 pm on all campuses. We are also hosting the Jr. High Basketball District Tournament on our main campus that evening. Please be careful navigating the main campus as traffic will be congested and parking lots will be crowded. We look forward to seeing you at the conferences and GO TECH!

Mrs. Kristen Hedge's 3rd graders earned 20,000 points on MobyMax and got rewarded with slime from the company! Way to go!

GCT Elementary 3rd grade students are currently learning about space. Today, the Arkansas Skydome Planetarium visited our school. Students got to see a 45 minute planetarium presentation and then were able to explore different space related exhibits. Thank you to our GCT Elementary PTO for covering the cost of this to further our students' education and interest in space

Attention GCT Patrons:
The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has offered an early start waiver for next school year. This waiver would allow GCT to start school during the week of August 12th as opposed to August 19th. We are asking for some feedback from patrons concerning the early start. Please provide your feedback using the form linked below.

IT'S MRS. PAISHA JOINER!

We appreciate our counselors!

SNOW DAY MAKEUP INFORMATION:
The Arkansas Department of Education issued a waiver that allows school districts to change their calendar from traditional to alternate. Traditional calendars calculate days, while the alternate calendar calculates minutes/hours. Districts are allowed to "bank" instructional time and substitute that time for inclement weather days. GCT took advantage of the waiver and was able to substitute two of the three days we missed for snow. This means we only need to make up one day. We will make up this day on February 19th.

To celebrate kindness week, 2nd grade PACE students crafted handmade Valentine cards to share with patients and families facing childhood illness. Specifically, Spreading Sunshine, serving children in Le Bonheur & St. Jude's.

Mrs. Dalea's 3rd graders earned 20,000 points in Moby Max and were rewarded with slime sent just for them from the company. Congratulations!

We celebrated The Great Kindness Challenge with a kindness checklist that we encouraged students to complete. These students completed at least 12 acts of kindness from the list and were drawn for prizes. Congratulations!

These students showed the most growth on the STAR test in either math or literacy.
All of our 2nd graders showed growth from their first test in September so they got to enjoy an ice cream sandwich.
